GST

They call it the Goods and Services Tax, but really, it’s just one of those things we don’t get a say in. A government charge that sits quietly in the background of everything we buy or sell — like an invisible hand that always takes its cut first.

I don’t set it, I just collect it, like everyone else who runs a business. Ten percent goes straight to the tax man before I even see it. It’s not my money, but I’m the one who’s got to make sure it gets where it’s supposed to go.

You could say it’s part of the system — one of those non-negotiables. We pay it, we track it, and the government keeps the lights on. Whether that’s fair or not, well — I’ll let you decide that one.

The good part is that everything here — every sale, every donation — is transparent. You’ll see what comes in, what goes out, and yes — even the part that heads straight off to Canberra.

At least this way, you know nothing’s hidden under the table.
