Donation
The Donation account works much like the Share account — a small contribution is added from everything that comes in. Ten percent from all turnover goes into this account. That includes ten percent from donations, and another ten percent from store income, which can help grow the fund quite a bit over time.
My hope is that everyone who contributes will feel good knowing that a small part of what they give will help someone who’s really struggling — someone who truly needs a hand. It’s our way of giving back.
I’ve always been frustrated with big charities. Many do incredible work and absolutely deserve support, but too often most of the money disappears into administration and running costs. The people who need it most only see a small portion. That’s not how I want this to work.
Here, the entire ten percent — every cent of it — goes directly to someone in need. Nothing is taken out.
Each recipient can receive up to $50,000 maximum, and if there’s a balance of $100,000 or more in total in the account, two people would receive $50,000 each. And so forth this is per Australian fiscal year 1st July-30 June
How will it be decided who receives it?
Anyone who holds a Lifeline Token will be able to nominate someone they believe deserves this lifeline. There will be a few clear criteria, which will be explained inside the website once you’ve made a donation.
In the end, it will be the Lifeline Token holders — the very people who helped build this project — who vote and decide who receives the donation.
That’s the heart of it: people helping people, directly, with nothing in between.
